FOSTER CARE-ADOPTION PROGRAM
The young star of the Surry SPCA is Cara Appel. In 2002, Cara’s formal beginnings in rescuing animals started at the early age of nine. She is driven by her strong religious beliefs to care and respect for all living creatures. Today Cara has a foster shelter allowing her to provide socialization and temporary care for homeless pets until they can be adopted. Through her own initiative Cara writes a weekly column in the Sussex and Surry Dispatch educating people on the care and needs of companion animals. She provides pictures of pets for adoptions and most of her adoptions take place through this resource.
